Sparta High School is seeking a part time, highly qualified, and collaborative Long-Term Substitute English Teacher to cover a temporary absence. This position will involve teaching multiple English classes and working closely with the English department to ensure continuity of instruction during this time. Other tasks may be assigned including helping coordinate Section 504 plans and/or standardized testing, working with students in our teacher academy, and other tasks as assigned.
Position Responsibilities:

Teach Honors English 9, AP English Literature, and English 12 using established curriculum, pacing guides, and instructional resources.

Deliver engaging, standards-aligned lessons that support a range of learners.

Utilize technology effectively, including PowerSchool and Schoology manage assignments, assessments, and communication.

Collaborate with English department colleagues to maintain instructional consistency and align assessments.

Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that supports student learning and accountability.

Carry out all standard teacher responsibilities, including attendance, grading, supervision, and communication with students and families as needed.
- Perform other assigned tasks as needed.
Qualifications:

Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate required (BA).

Bachelor’s degree in English or a related field preferred.

Experience teaching secondary English strongly preferred.

Experience with AP coursework is a plus.

Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

Comfort with educational technology and digital learning tools.
