Description |
- Must meet district Teacher Assistant (TA) requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Highly Qualified status as required by No Child Left Behind and the Individuals with Disabilities Act—Associate’s Degree or have scored at least a 4 in math or reading, and a 3 or better in writing on the WorkKeys test.
- Ability to be responsible for all student self-care including mobility in a wheelchair;
- Ability to physically attend to student needs, including personal care, diapering, transfers to and from wheelchair, tube feeding, medication administration (oral, rectal and through gastric tube), augmentative communication, assistive technology devices and wheelchair mobility;
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Ability and willingness to perform recess monitoring, bus unloading, and lunchroom supervision, as necessary;
- Basic computer skills preferred;
- CPI trained preferred;
- Ability to be flexible with varying student needs and schedule changes;
- Effective communication skills with a variety of staff members;
- Ability to work with children in a caring, nurturing manner;
- Demonstrates flexibility, teamwork and organization;
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality;
- Hard working and a team player.
